D+28 …. Updates from Singapore

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Piyush is keeping fine. Overall his general health condition is stable. His cough, cold and fever are under control. But his counts are still low. As long as he is stable and active, we can still wait for his counts to grow. So there is no change in the line of treatment as of now. Same medicines are continued. His platelets are just 8000 and WBC is 50. As a result, there is bleeding in his bladder. But nothing to worry much on this. Two units of platelets are given in order to raise his platelets. Hopefully by tomorrow he will be fine.

As each day passes, cost pressure is also mounting up. I am putting all my effort and ideas in order to manage the cost within the available funds. By next week picture will be clear as where do we stand.

Today again few gentle people had come to see Piyush with lot of toys, books and CD’s. He is getting lots of love and blessings from all. Thank you so much for showering so much love,  well wishes and prayers. Please continue keeping him in your prayers.

D+24 …. Updates from Singapore

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Today we got culture reports. Results are negative. So this is big relief. There is also improvement in his Fever status. fever is much lower since last night and today whole day. His counts are still low. Expected to grow any time. Almost on daily basis, he is getting platelets. This will continue till his marrow starts producing the platelets on its own.

As days passes, cost pressure also mounting up. All these medicines like anti fungals, anti virals, platelets etc are contributing HUGE cost. We are keeping our fingers crossed and just praying GOD for his fast recovery. Also request you to keep your prayers on.

Piyush is active and playing around. Our heartfelt thanks to all the people who are regularely donating blood and platelets for Piyush. I must thank “Indian Women’s Association” for taking this initiation and helping us.

D+23 …. Updates from Singapore

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Today we are at 23rd day of the transplant. Piyush is stable. Still has mild cough and cold. His counts are still low. But Doctor says any time it is expected to grow. Low grade fever still spikes. All the blood, urine and flam culture is carried out regularly to see if there is any virus. So far all the test results are negative. So Doctor attributes this fever to cord blood fever.  The big challenge at the moment is to protect him from any infections till his immune system grows. So he is covered under so many medicines like anti fungal, anti viral etc which are pretty expensive.

Piyush is stable, active and playing around. Thanks lot for your continued support. Please keep him in your prayers and pray for his speedy marrow growth.

D+19…. Updates from Singapore

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

Today is D+19. Piyush is quite stable. Doctor is satisfied with his general health condition. As of now, his counts are still low. He has low grade fever. Fever is on and off. Though Doctor is pretty sure about this fever as sign of cord blood growth. But to rule out any doubts on infections (other than his mild cold), today once again few tests have been carried out. THANK GOD, all the tests are clear. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping to see some growth in his counts soon. Thank you so much for your continued support and  prayers. At this junction, where his immune system is totally down, the only force that is giving him adiquate strength is “The Power of Prayers”. Please continue keep him in your prayers.

Day by day, more and more people from Singapore are coming forward to support us. We never ever felt that we are away from home.  We are really thankful to you all for your such a great support.

Piyush is quite active and playing around. Now a days, he started running race between me and him (within the isolation room). When ever he is free form the IV lines, he immediately start the race. He started with one lap, but today he has completed four laps! (He picked these words from car racing games!) Every day he does it and enjoys the victory. Good thing is, this race is helping him to build his confidence within himself! He is always cheerful. His smile gives us courage and strength to go forward.

D+15 …. Updates from Singapore

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Piyush is quite stable. He had mild fever last night. But his blood culture and urine culture was done and it is clear. Doctor attributes this fever to growth of cord blood. Doctor feels that stem cells are growing. His counts are still low. But he is quite active. His appetite is slow. When we tried to give him oral food, his argument was, “While I am on TPN, how can I take food orally? I am getting food through IV, so I dont feel hungry. You stop the TPN, I will take the food” We just rememberd the old famous puzzle ”Its Egg first or the hen”

Today we have mentioned on the front page about the fund status. Our sincere gratitude to you all for your kind help and great support. We are through with the required funds. But we need lot more other than money now from all of you. We desperately need your well wishes, prayers and blessings on Piyush. Please continue keep him in your prayers.

D+13…. Updates from Singapore

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

Piyush is quite stable. Still counts are low. Incase of cord blood, the gowth would be slow as compared to Bone Marrow. So we are waiting to see some increase in his WBC and platelet counts. He is quite active. Playing around and moving around within the room. Appetite is still slow. Expected to improve as counts grows. Thanks lot for all of your prayers. Prayers are really working and please continue your prayers.

D+9…. Updates from Singapore

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Piyush is quite stable. Today morning he is looking bit low. This could be sign of marrow growing. But at the same time we can not rule out any infection. So analysis will be done today to establish the cause. Doctor feels that marrow started growing. If that is so, then it is really good news. We are closely monitoring his WBC counts. Yesterday we could see marginal increase in WBC counts. Hope this trend will continue. Still lot of medications are on. His appetite is still low. Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) is being given through IV.

His general activities are on. He is playing around and he is quite active also. He wants to go home at the earliest. Everyday he is asking us. After all he is kid, he wants to go out, play with friends. Daily he keeps remembering all of his friends in Siddarth Nagar Society and DAV Public School. That motivates him to remain active. By the grace of GOD, so far everything is going smooth. Please continue your prayers and that is really required all these days.

D+5….Updates from Singapore

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Today is D+5 of the transplant. Piyush is keeping fine. We are bit concerned about his cough and cold. Hopefully in couple of days he should be clear from this viral. His counts are still very low, WBC-20 and Platelets-33000. This is quite usual. Between D-10 and D-15 hopefully we can see counts growing. Doctors are monitoring his progress very closely. So far progress is been satisfactory.

Piyush is quite active and cheerful too. Whole day he keeps watching movies, playing indoor games etc. Sometime he keep remembering his friends in Siddarth Nagar Society and his DAV Public School as well. He wants to go out and play but at the same time he is aware that he has to be in hospital for couple of weeks. So everyday he keeps on asking as when can we get discharge. Thanks GOD for giving Piyush all the strength to fight and making him smile all the time. This is all because of your prayers. Please continue pray for Piyush.

D+2 Updates from Singapore

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Today is third day of the transpant. So far Piyush is keeping fine. Today he has a mild common cold and cough. Evening he did complain about stomach ache. Stomach ache could be one of the side effects of radio therapy and chemo therapy. Normally these effects starts surfacing out from one week later the theropy. His overall health is monitored very carefully on regularl basis. Two more Specialists Doctors (pediatric) are visiting Piyush regularly to take care of him. So far progress is quite satisfactory. His counts are still low. (WBC-20 and platelets-30,000). But expected to start growing after one week. Today two units of platelets and one unit of blood transfused. His appetite is bit slow. Today Doc advised us to give him only liquid food for few days. Also they started supplementary food supports through IV to boost his energy.

Piyush is quite active and his sense of humor is increasing day by day. This is what really boost his energy and so ours. GOD is really great, though there is enormous pain due to chemo, radiation and basic changes taking place inside the body, still GOD has given him strength to smile and remain cheerful. Thanks lot for your continued prayers. Next three weeks are really crucial for the growth of stem cells. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.
