Where is GOD’s home? Show me!

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

At the age of 4, Piyush boarded his fisrt flight. He was coming from Mumbai to Delhi with his mom to join me as I had just shifted to Delhi. Everything was going smooth, he was excited to board plane and curious about everything in Airport. After long fight with Air hostess, finally he agreed to fasten the seat belt. Once plane started flying above the sky, he started asking loudly, “when are we going to throw the bomb?” Swati was scared as the situation was very sensitive at that time. She had to struggle to keep his mouth shut! In true spirit he was AIR FORCE PILOT!

After a while, he asked his mom, “now we are flying above the clouds, where is GOD’s home? Show me, I want to see his home”. Then she realised, always he used to ask about GOD’s where abouts. So we used to tell him that GOD lives in above the sky. She had no convincing answer, but to tell him that GOD stays on moon.

Translation of news paper

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Dear Revati, This news is written in Malaya languge. Here is the translation.

You’re going away…..Couple spent $465.000 to treat son’s leukemia

* Maltesh and Swati Kolur, both 32-year old mechanical engineers, have stayed in Singapore for two months to treat Piyush, their 7-year old son who suffered from blood cancer.

* Knowing the high cost that they need to pay, they did everything in their might to come up with the funds needed including selling their house for around SGD$50,000.

* However, after brave fight, Piyush had passed away due to lung infection on June 19 after undergoing bone marrow transplant surgery on April 30 in Mount Elizabeth hospital.

* When the writer visited Maltesh in his Singapore’s accommodation last week, Piyush was still under treatment. Maltesh shared how active Piyush was and how he dislike going to Singapore which made him missed school. * Piyush dream was to become an air force pilot.* Piyush was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when he was four. Chemotherapy had receded the disease for a while until it was found during a regular check up that the leukemia had relapsed.

* The family decided to come to Singapore and spent $465.000 for treatment including bone marrow transplant. Following the operation, they still need to pay $8000 per day for his recovery as Piyush also suffered from some infections.

* Maltesh appealed to the Singapore’s community for aid. He said that help and support came from many people who heard about his story. Maltesh also seek support through television in India and Singapore.

ALL Blood cancerWhat is Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)? Dr K K Toh, a Clinical Associate Professor and consultant physician and haematologist at Camden Medical Centre, explained that ALL is one of the four common types of leukaemia.  The others are acute myelogenous leukaemia (AML), chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) and chronic lymphatic leukaemia (CLL). The disease may occur in both adults and children. However, more children suffered from ALL and it affects more boys than girls. Children with Down’s syndrome have higher risk of leukemia compare to the healthy ones.   Cytogenetic studies have shown that chromosomal abnormalities are associated more often with leukemia or have an influence on prognosis.  Bone marrow transplant is regarded as last resort in treatment but not a first option in ALL. There is a high chance of recovery with intense chemotherapy. Post-surgery recovery may be slow down by infections, patient’s body rejecting the transplant cells and patient’s condition before surgery

Can you please call Doctor?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Piyush was always enjoying his every moment of life. His sense of humor was amazing. His severe bladder pain did not stop his sense of humor. I would like to share one golden moment here. Previous night i was awake and looking after Piyush whole night. So morning Swati took over the charge and I was just resting on sofa. That day morning he started feeling the pain. It started aggrivating. He requested his mom to call Doc. She started looking for nurse to call Doc. He instantly told her pointing towards me…. “Mom, still you dont understand….Call this Doctor, who is sleeping on the sofa”

Always he thought I can give him more comfort than Doctors. He never used to allow any Doctor or nurse to handle him. Always he used to tell “Please don’t touch me, explain to my papa, he will do it for me” He always felt we both can do something good for him than any Doctor. Unfortnately we were helpless… I wish I could have beeen Doctor so that I could have done something better for him :(

Thank you so much for all your kind words, prayers and condolences. We are feeling proud of Piyush for bringing us so close…more than a family. When every we feel down, we keep reading all of your messages, mails. Thats how we are trying to cope up with the time.

Piyush was fond of paintings. During his hospital stay, one of the activities which was keeping him busy was painting. He coloured many pictures. This is the last painting he coloured and it is very special one. The speciality of this painting was….he wanted to give this painting to Doctor.  He told us clearly “I will give this painting to Dr. Patrick Tan but not now, only after my recovery and at the time of discharge from the hospital”.

Our little heart…..

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Piyush was doing well, latest WBC had brought s lot of hopes and joy, but that did not last for long time. After brave fight, finally our little brave warier decided to say bye to us. Doc calls it as lung infection, But we call it as destiny. What ever may be the description, ultimately the truth is Piyush passed away; leaving us behind and carrying millions of millions prayers and blessing.

At 9:30pm, local Singapore time, Doc called us inside and told that his oxygen level is almost going below critical zone. We requested Doc to remove all the lines, catheter etc. because he did not like anyone of them. He was happy in his last moment. We could see a peaceful and precious smile on his face. After so much of fight, finally at 9:40 he took his last breath.

In entire 2 months stay, only once he had expressed me that he wants to go home, specifically Siddarth Nagar - Pune home. So we decided to take him to Pune. Reached India on 20thook  midnight. On 21st Morning at 7:30am IST all the rituals completed.

Thank you so much for all of your support, blessings and prayers. Thank you so much Singapore expat community and every one in Singapore who extended all the suppory till the end of our journey. Piyush is with us, he has not gone anywhere. He is there in every ones heart. You all have given him so much of love. How can he go like that?

Yes, we will retain this site. I will keep posting all his good memories in this site. I want to write more but unable to write. Fingers are not moving. Still at shock. But i will keep posting some of his good memories. Because Piyush is with us he is in our thoughts and in our heart. He has shown us beautiful world which is entirely different, so he brought us in contact with you all. We are really proud of our son.

My humble request to all of you is, please do not get dishearten because of this incident. My sincere request to all of you is, please continue supporting kids those who really needs all of our support. Let us leave the end result to destiny. But try our best to help all the needy kids. I am keeping the front page open. If anyone needs help / support, we will use the same page. Please keep visiting this site and send your suggestions as how best we can make this site keep going. This is how, we can keep Piyush alive in our heart.
